Dāna

What is Dāna?

Dāna (Sanskrit: दान) means giving or generosity. It is a voluntary expression of appreciation and gratitude. In Buddhism it is seen as an acknowledgement of our interconnectedness and interdependence. Śarana exists solely through such acts of kindness.

You can express gratitude to any of our translators who give freely of their time by offering them Dāna.

After expenses, Anne shares any Dāna she receives with charities she wants to support. For 2024 she is offering to the Akong Rinpoche Memorial Foundation.

Much gratitude to Dying with Grace for funding support for a number of End of Life in-person offerings.

Any events through Śarana that ask for a fee, such as an ongoing residential course, are those that require venue hire and/or residential costs.

How to offer Dāna

After any event, workshop or retreat that I do for Dāna, I will send out details of how you can give via email. If you want to give Dāna outside of this then you are welcome to get in contact.
